Magnetic skyrmions unwrapped

Nature Physics, 2022
Experiments with chiral magnets may hold the key to a better understanding of fundamental aspects of transformations between different skyrmionic states, necessary for magnetic memory and logic applications to become a reality. With the aim of developing computing devices that operate with low power dissipation, scientists have been pursuing the idea ...

Hybrid magnetic skyrmion

Physical Review B, 2017
We introduce the concept of the hybrid magnetic skyrmion (HMS) by patterning arrays of magnetic nanodisks on top of thin films that possess the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI). The practical feasibility of the method is validated by micromagnetic simulations and computed Skyrmion number per unit cell. The HMS has enhanced stability and mobility

Deformation of magnetic skyrmion due to skyrmion–skyrmion interaction

Chinese Physics B
Abstract Understanding skyrmion–skyrmion interactions and their dynamical effects is crucial for skyrmion-based applications. In this article, we investigate the deformation of skyrmions induced by the inter-skyrmion interaction in both static and dynamic scenarios for a two-skyrmion system.

Dynamics of magnetic skyrmions

Chinese Physics B, 2015
We review the recent progress on the magnetic skyrmions in chiral magnetic materials. The magnetic skyrmion is a topological spin configuration with localized spatial extent, which could be thought of as an emergent rigid particle, owing to its particular topological and chiral properties.

Magnetism. Blowing magnetic skyrmion bubbles.

Science (New York, N.Y.), 2015
The formation of soap bubbles from thin films is accompanied by topological transitions. Here we show how a magnetic topological structure, a skyrmion bubble, can be generated in a solid-state system in a similar manner. Using an inhomogeneous in-plane current in a system with broken inversion symmetry, we experimentally "blow" magnetic skyrmion ...
