Observation of the intrinsic magnetic susceptibility of highly purified single-wall carbon nanotubes

open access: yes, 2015
We report the observation of the intrinsic magnetic susceptibility of highly purified SWCNT samples prepared by a combination of acid treatment and density gradient ultracentrifugation (DGU).

Systematic Study of Short Range Antiferromagnetic Order and The Spin-Glass State in Lightly Doped La2-xSrxCuO4

open access: yes, 2000
Systematic measurements of the magnetic susceptibility were performed on single crystals of lightly doped La2-xSrxCuO4 (x=0.03, 0.04 and 0.05). For all samples the temperature dependence of the in-plane magnetic susceptibility shows typical spin-glass ...

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Magnetic properties of the S=1/2 quasi-one-dimensional antiferromagnet CaCu2O3

open access: yes, 2000
We report single crystal growth and magnetic susceptibility and neutron diffraction studies of the S=1/2 quasi-1D antiferromagnet CaCu2O3. The structure of this material is similar to that of the prototype two-leg spin-ladder compound SrCu2O3.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.
