Determination of activation volumes of reversal in perpendicular media [PDF]
We discuss a method for the determination of activation volumes of reversal in perpendicular media. This method does not require correction for the self-demagnetizing field normally associated with these media.

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Energy conserving Anisotropic Anhysteretic Magnetic Modelling for Finite Element Analysis [PDF]
To model ferromagnetic material in finite element analysis a correct description of the constitutive relationship (BH-law) must be found from measured data. This article proposes to use the energy density function as a centrepiece.

Magnetization reversal in mesoscopic Ni80Fe20 wires: A magnetic domain launching device [PDF]
The magnetization reversal process in mesoscopic permalloy (Ni80Fe20) wire structures has been investigated using scanning Kerr microscopy, magnetic force microscopy (MFM) and micromagnetic calculations.

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Three-Phase Busbar Current Transducer [PDF]
A true three-phase 1000 A busbar current transducer is based on six micro-fluxgate sensors. Instead of using three independent single-phase current transducers, we use the full information from each sensor.

Magnetization transfer in magnetic resonance fingerprinting
PurposeTo study the effects of magnetization transfer (MT, in which a semi‐solid spin pool interacts with the free pool), in the context of magnetic resonance fingerprinting (MRF).MethodsSimulations and phantom experiments were performed to study the impact of MT on the MRF signal and its potential influence on T1 and T2 estimation.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Implementation of the "hyperdynamics of infrequent events" method for acceleration of thermal switching dynamics of magnetic moments [PDF]
For acceleration of the calculations of thermal magnetic switching, we report the use of the Voter method, recently proposed in chemical physics (also called "hyperdynamics of the infrequent events").
