Hydrodynamic behavior of magnetized fluidized beds with admixtures of Geldart-B magnetizable and nonmagnetizable particles

open access: yesParticuology, 2016
This work focuses on the hydrodynamic behavior of admixtures of Geldart-B magnetizable and non magnetizable particles in a magnetized fluidized bed. The applied magnetic field was axial, uniform, and steady.

Two-Dimensional Magnetic Particles

Science, 1998
Single two-dimensional (2D) atomically thick magnetic particles of cobalt and iron with variable size and shape were fabricated by combining a mask technique with standard molecular beam epitaxy. Reduction of the lateral size of in-plane magnetized 2D cobalt films down to about 100 nanometers did not essentially modify their magnetic properties ...

Narrowband Magnetic Particle Imaging

IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2009
The magnetic particle imaging (MPI) method directly images the magnetization of super-paramagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanoparticles, which are contrast agents commonly used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MPI, as originally envisioned, requires a high-bandwidth receiver coil and preamplifier, which are difficult to optimally noise match. This paper

A magnetic-particles display

IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1975
A new type of flat-panel ambient-illuminated display is described. Images in this display are formed by magnetically controlling the orientations of small spherical multicolored magnetic particles. A demonstration model is shown and the possibility for application to television is studied.

Magnetic particle–particle interaction in frozen magnetic fluids

Journal of Applied Physics, 1996
Magnetic resonance is used to study magnetic dipole particle–particle interaction in ionic water-based iron-manganese magnetic fluids. A set of six samples having particle concentration running from 1.2×1016 to 6.3×1016 particles/cm3 were frozen below room temperature and analyzed in the range of 100–250 K.

Water purification with magnetic particles

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 1991
CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization) has for some years carried out research into more efficient ways of purifying water and wastewater. More intensive processing has been achieved by the use of finely divided solid reagents which can be regenerated and reused.
