Magneto–Acoustic Hybrid Nanomotor

Nano Letters, 2015
Efficient and controlled nanoscale propulsion in harsh environments requires careful design and manufacturing of nanomachines, which can harvest and translate the propelling forces with high spatial and time resolution. Here we report a new class of artificial nanomachine, named magneto-acoustic hybrid nanomotor, which displays efficient propulsion in ...

Dynamic Modeling and Transient Response of a Rigid-Body Inductrack Maglev System

Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, 2022
The Inductrack system, which provides a novel way to achieve magnetic levitation by using Halbach arrays of permanent magnets (PMs), has been extensively studied in the past two decades. The transient responses of the Inductrack system in operation are

Magneto-Acoustic Interaction in Mercury

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1969
The magnetically induced acoustic absorption coefficient in liquid mercury has been measured around its inverse relaxation frequency using an on-line computer and magnetic fields of up to 10 kg. The hybrid computer-operated differential measuring system took between 2560 and 25 600 experiments per run.

The magneto-acoustic emission (invited)

Journal of Applied Physics, 1993
When cycling a hysteresis loop, bursts of high frequency ultrasonic waves are emitted. This general phenomenon, which must not be confused with the classical magnetostrictive effect at twice the cycling frequency, is called the magnetoacoustic emission (MAE). By using literature and authors’ results, qualitative and quantitative, the authors review the

Development and Design of the Dynamic Vibration Absorber Using Magneto-Rheological Elastomer for the Weight and Power Consumption Saving

Volume 11: Acoustics, Vibration, and Phononics, 2019
In this study, a broadband frequency tunable dynamic absorber was designed and fabricated based on the primary design principle of a mass damper. A magneto-rheological elastomer that can change the relative stiffness when an external magnetic field is ...

Combined photoacoustic and magneto-acoustic imaging

2009 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2009
Ultrasound is a widely used modality with excellent spatial resolution, low cost, portability, reliability and safety. In clinical practice and in the biomedical field, molecular ultrasound-based imaging techniques are desired to visualize tissue pathologies, such as cancer.

Nonlinear magneto-acoustic dispersive waves

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1977
The multiple time scale method is applied to investigate the nonlinear magneto-acoustic dispersive waves in a collisional plasma. Whereas in the absence of collisions these waves are modulationally stable, the collisions render them modulationally unstable.

Magneto-Acoustic Faraday Effect in Tb3Ga5O12 [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Low Temperature Physics, 2010
The transverse acoustic wave propagating along the [100] axis of the cubic paramagnet Tb3Ga5O12 (TGG) exhibits amplitude oscillations as a function of magnetic field applied in the direction of propagation. This magneto-acoustic Faraday effect shows a linear frequency dependence contrary to theoretical expectation which demands a quadratic frequency ...

On magneto-acoustic waves

Physics Letters, 1963
A solution is obtained for the induced magnetic field caused by the propagation of sound waves through an electrically conducting medium in a direction parallel to the original magnetic field. The equation of continuity is introduced into the coupled equations for the hydrodynamic flow and the electromagnetic field. (R.E.U.)

Experimental observations of magneto-acoustic fields

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1983
Experimental observations of electric fields induced in salt water by acoustic waves in a resonant cavity interacting with a strong constant magnetic field are described. The fields are found to behave linearly with the constant magnetic field strength as well as with the acoustic field strength as predicted theoretically.
