Magneto-optical Kerr effect analysis of magnetic nanostructures
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2003We present a treatment of polarized light analysis and noise sources relevant to magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) measurements of magnetic nanostructures and give performance details of our state-of-the-art MOKE magnetometer in these terms. By considering the various signal contributions, we are able to determine experimental conditions for optimal ...

Magneto-optical Kerr effect study of GaMnAs layers
Physica E: Low-dimensional Systems and Nanostructures, 2003Abstract The magnetization reversal is investigated in (Ga,Mn)As thin films using magneto-optical Kerr effect. The results demonstrate a reversal behavior analogous to that observed in metallic magnetic layers (coherent rotation followed by nucleation propagation process). The dynamic study at T=20 K shows a strong increase of the coercivity

Magneto-optical polar Kerr effect and dispersion relations
Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 1994Dispersion relations for a normal-incidence magneto-optical polar Kerr effect, which connect Kerr rotation and Kerr ellipticity, are demonstrated. A numerical iterative method for extrapolation of Kerr parameters to a wider spectral range is developed and tested on a Lorentz model and experimental data (iron–silver multilayer spectra).

Kerr Magneto-Optic Effect in Thin Cobalt Films*
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1964Rotations and ellipticities of the longitudinal Kerr, magneto-optic effect were measured over the visible spectrum on three evaporated cobalt films. The complex index of refraction and the magneto-optic parameter Q were computed and agreed, in general, with early results on bulk cobalt. Using Voigt’s theory, the polar effect and the longitudinal effect
