Wet Ball Milling Synthesis of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles for High‐Efficiency, Controllable Magnetic Hyperthermia in Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A wet ball‐milling method is presented to synthesize iron magnetic nanoparticles and evaluate their magnetic hyperthermia performance. Optimized particles (∼270 nm, Ms ∼114 emu/g) achieve ∼50°C heating under clinically safe alternating magnetic fields, while pulsed‐field operation enables controlled temperature regulation (∼30°C).

Magnetic Droplet Manipulation on Open Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Recent advances in the manipulation of magnetic droplets demonstrate various manipulations on open surfaces, including transport, splitting, merging, and force‐controlled motion, enabled by magnetic particles and external fields. ABSTRACT Manipulation of liquids on a smaller scale enables applications in various fields, particularly diagnostics and ...

Accurate prediction of the optical properties of nanoalloys with both plasmonic and magnetic elements

open access: yesNature Communications
The alloying process plays a pivotal role in the development of advanced multifunctional plasmonic materials within the realm of modern nanotechnology. However, accurate in silico predictions are only available for metal clusters of just a few nanometers,

Landau level spectroscopy of surface states in the topological insulator Bi$_{0.91}$Sb$_{0.09}$ via magneto-optics

open access: yes, 2012
We have performed broad-band zero-field and magneto-infrared spectroscopy of the three dimensional topological insulator Bi$_{0.91}$Sb$_{0.09}$. The zero-field results allow us to measure the value of the direct band gap between the conducting $L_a$ and ...

Broadband Directional Thermal Radiation with Asymmetric Femtosecond Laser‐Processed Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Femtosecond laser processing is used to scalably create self‐organized angled microstructures which exhibit highly directional emissivity that occurs for all polarizations. Laser parameters are tuned to alter the surface features, control the direction of emission, and enhance the directional emissivity. Electromagnetic modeling is performed to analyze

Higher critical current density achieved in Bi-2223 High-Tc superconductors

open access: yesJournal of Radiation Research and Applied Sciences, 2016
Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox (Bi-2223) were prepared using a solid state reaction method at different sintering times and temperatures. Structural phase identifications have been done using X-Ray analysis and refinement by Reitveld method which proves the coexistence ...

Magneto-optics induced by the spin chirality in itinerant ferromagnet Nd$_2$Mo$_2$O$_7$

open access: yes, 2005
It is demonstrated both theoretically and experimentally that the spin chirality associated with a noncoplanar spin configuration produces a magneto-optical effect.
