Ultrafast Demagnetization Measurements Using Extreme Ultraviolet Light: Comparison of Electronic and Magnetic Contributions

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2012
Ultrashort pulses of extreme ultraviolet light from high-harmonic generation are a new tool for probing coupled charge, spin, and phonon dynamics with element specificity, attosecond pump-probe synchronization, and time resolution of a few femtoseconds ...

Quantum Magneto-Optics in Graphene

open access: yesPhotonics, 2015
The optical conductivity of graphene in quantizing magnetic fields is studied. Both dynamical conductivities, longitudinal and Hall’s, are analytically evaluated. The conductivity peaks are explained in terms of electron transitions.

Bioinspired Magneto-optical Bacteria [PDF]

open access: yesInorganic Chemistry, 2014
"Two-in-one" magneto-optical bacteria have been produced using the probiotic Lactobacillus fermentum for the first time. We took advantage of two features of bacteria to synthesize this novel and bifunctional nanostructure: their metal-reducing properties, to produce gold nanoparticles, and their capacity to incorporate iron oxide nanoparticles at ...

Surface-plasmon-polariton-driven narrow-linewidth magneto-optics in Ni nanodisk arrays

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2019
The field of magnetoplasmonics exploits interactions between light and magnetic matter at the nanoscale for light manipulation and resonant magneto-optics. One of the great challenges of this field is overcoming optical losses in magnetic metals.

Strong Faraday Rotation Based on Localized Surface Plasmon Enhancement of Embedded Metallic Nanoparticles in Glass

open access: yesSmall Science, 2022
The Faraday rotation originates from the mechanism by which the time‐reversal symmetry in the material is broken by the external magnetic field. It is the basis for the development of some magneto‐optical devices, such as optical isolators. In integrated

Strain-magneto-optics in CoFe2O4: magneto-absorption in Voight geometry

open access: yes, 2020
The infrared optical, magneto-optical and magnetostrictive properties of CoFe2O4 single crystal are considered. The magneto-transmission and magneto-reflection of natural light in magnetostrictive CoFe2O4 spinel are studied in the Voight experimental ...
