Micromechanical analysis on tensile modulus of structured magneto-rheological elastomer

Smart Materials and Structures, 2016
This paper proposed a micromechanical model to investigate the tensile modulus of structured magnetorheological elastomers (MRE) to understand its anisotropic properties. A three parameter representative volume element (RVE) model was presented to describe the microscopic structure, where particles could be organized in layer-like or chain-like ...

Two-dimensional magnetic property measurement for magneto-rheological elastomer

Journal of Applied Physics, 2013
Magneto-rheological elastomer (MRE) is a new kind of smart material. Its rheological properties can be altered and controlled in a real time manner when it is applied an external magnetic field. For calculating magnetic properties of MRE material, usually Maxwell-Garnet equation is used to acquire an approximately effective permeability.

A hybrid skyhook active force control for impact mitigation using magneto-rheological elastomer isolator

Smart materials and structures (Print), 2021
This paper presents control characteristic of an impact isolator featuring a magneto-rheological elastomer isolator device (MREID). The developed MREID is analysed in term of its magnetic intensity to produce a large of MR effect that controlled by the ...

Reliability Based Optimal Tuning of Magneto-Rheological Elastomer for Efficient Structural Control against Non-Stationary Ground Motion

Journal of earthquake engineering, 2022
A reliability-based tuning of magneto-rheological elastomer is presented in this work for optimal control under non-stationary seismic ground motion. This smart isolator offers flexibility to the designer as it can change characteristics in the presence ...

Electrical Properties of Magneto-Rheological Elastomers

Smart Materials, Adaptive Structures and Intelligent Systems, Volume 1, 2008
A magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) is comprised of ferromagnetic particles aligned in a polymer medium by exposure to a magnetic field. The structures of the magnetic particles within elastomers are very sensitive to the external stimulus of either mechanical force or magnetic field, which result in multi-response behaviors in MRE.

Experimental Investigation on Magneto-Rheological Elastomers

2018
The paper describes an experimental investigation conducted on Magneto-Rheological Elastomers (MRE); these materials, consisting of an elastomeric matrix containing ferromagnetic particles, are considered smart material as it is possible to control their mechanical properties by means of an applied magnetic field.
