In‐Process Magnetization for 3D Printing of Magnetorheological Elastomer with Heterogeneous Magnetic Profile for Anisotropic Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fully programmable, in‐process 3D magnetization integrated with multi‐material printing enables soft magnetic systems with precise actuation and sensing. Discrete and continuous magnetization profiles drive bending, morphing, and locomotion, demonstrated through strain‐sensing elements, dragonfly‐inspired wings, octopus‐like tentacles, and a serpentine

A Smart Fluid‐Hydraulic System Based on MRF Valve Control and Its Application in Flexible Grasping

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a smart fluid hydraulic system using MRF valve control for flexible gripping. An MRF‐MSV with an integrated excitation coil and micro‐textured damping channels is designed and validated; micro‐texturing increases hydraulic resistance. Coupled with a soft actuator, the MRF‐MSV enables dynamic bending and grasping.

Towards a thermo-magneto-mechanical coupling framework for magneto-rheological elastomers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Solids and Structures, 2017
Abstract Magnetorheological elastomers (MREs) are a relatively new class of smart materials that can undergo large deformations resulting from external magnetic excitation. These are promising candidates in producing sensors and actuators. Due to their inherent chemical compositions, most polymeric materials are highly susceptible to temperature ...

Morphological Analysis of Unstructured and Prestructured Magneto-rheological Elastomer

open access: yesInternational Journal for Research in Applied Science and Engineering Technology, 2021
Abstract: By providing or not put on a magnetic flux, a magneto rheological (MR) elastomer becomes a very powerful and advanced smart material that could be twisted and responded hurriedly in relations of mechanical strength. They are elastomer materials with embedded iron elements in an elastomer environment.
