Estimation of the Intrinsic Power Efficiency in Magnetoelectric Laminates Using Temperature Measurements

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Magnetoelectric (ME) power efficiency is a more important property than the ME voltage or the current coefficients for power conversion applications.

The Effect of $f$-$d$ Magnetic Coupling in Multiferroic $R$MnO$_3$ Crystals

open access: yes, 2010
We have established detailed magnetoelectric phase diagrams of (Eu$_{0.595}$Y$_{0.405}$)$_{1-x}$Tb$_x$MnO$_3$ ($0 \le x \le 1$) and (Eu,Y)$_{1-x}$Gd$_x$MnO$_3$ ($0 \le x \le 0.69$), whose average ionic radii of $R$-site ($R$: rare earth) cations are ...

Gecko‐Like Multi‐Directional High‐Power Magneto–Mechano–Electric Energy Harvesters for Self‐Powered, Hundred‐Meter‐Scale LoRa Communication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gecko like multi directional high power magneto mechano electric energy harvester (MME EH) for self powered, hundred meter scale LoRa communication. Inspired by the symmetric and flexible limb motion of geckos, the biomimetic harvester enables coordinated bending twisting responses to weak, low frequency (50/60 Hz) stray magnetic fields from power ...

Detection of coherent magnons via ultrafast pump-probe reflectance spectroscopy in multiferroic Ba0.6Sr1.4Zn2Fe12O22

open access: yes, 2008
We report the detection of a magnetic resonance mode in multiferroic Ba0.6Sr1.4Zn2Fe12O22 using time domain pump-probe reflectance spectroscopy. Magnetic sublattice precession is coherently excited via picosecond thermal modification of the exchange ...

Remote Magnetomechanical Neuromodulation Uncovers Therapeutic Mechanisms for Alleviating Parkinsonian Symptoms in Freely Moving Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetomechanical neuromodulation using magnetic nanodiscs enables remote activation of neurons. In a hemiparkinsonian mouse model, alternating magnetic fields actuate the nanodiscs to generate torque that opens mechanosensitive ion channels within the subthalamic nucleus, thereby modulating basal ganglia motor circuitry.

Colossal tunability in high frequency magnetoelectric voltage tunable inductors

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Voltage tunable inductors (VTIs) with high working frequency and tunability are desired for new design of energy efficient electronics. Here the authors demonstrate magnetoelectric VTIs operating up to 10 MHz with tunability over 750% via strain mediated

Tailoring Successive Magnetic‐Dielectric Synergy for Enhancing Electromagnetic Absorption in Ultralong Heterostructure Chains Assisted by High Static Magnetic Field

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work proposes a high static magnetic field (HSMF) driven dual‐low‐dimension strategy for fabricating magnetic‐dielectric heterostructure (Fe3O4@MoS2) chains with programmable lengths. The constructed successive magnetic‐dielectric synergy, arising from uniaxial anisotropy‐enhanced magnetic response and abundant heterointerfaces that boost ...

Modeling and Characterization of Mechanically Mediated Structure of Terfenol-D, Pb(Zr, Ti)O3 and Nonmagnetic Flakes

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2017
The magnetoelectric samples studied were made up of Terfenol-D, Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 and nonmagnetic flakes. The magnetic-mechanical-electric transform originating from the magnetostrictive effect of Terfenol-D caused the magnetoelectric coupling.

Flexomagnetoelectric effect in bismuth ferrite

open access: yes, 2008
There is a profound analogy between inhomogeneous magnetoelectric effect in multiferroics and flexoelectric effect in liquid crystals. This similarity gives rise to the flexomagnetoelectric polarization induced by spin modulation.

Tunable High‐Performance Metamaterial Filters Based on Novel SRR Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on two novel SRR configurations and two independent SRR integration approaches, four tunable bandpass metamaterial filters were fabricated with an ultra‐thin ceramic substrate. Among them, SM‐2 achieves over 97% electromagnetic wave transmittance, with a minimal 1.15% deviation in its resonant frequency prediction, making them promising ...
