Abstract Loss of relativistic electrons with energies above 0.5 MeV through the magnetopause, commonly referred to as magnetopause shadowing, has been extensively investigated using both simulations and observations. However, direct and systematic observational evidence remains limited. In this study, we extend a previously developed magnetopause model

Abstract Although Mars lacks an intrinsic global dipole magnetic field, the existence of crustal magnetic anomalies in the southern hemisphere causes the Martian magnetosphere to have the hybrid characteristics combining Venus‐like induced and Earth‐like intrinsic types.

Abstract We incorporate field line curvature (FLC) scattering into a kinetic ring current model two‐way coupled with a global magnetospheric MHD model to investigate its role in SYM‐H prediction and global magnetospheric dynamics. FLC scattering reduces plasma pressure in regions where the ion gyroradius is comparable to the local FLC radius.

Bridging the Gap Between the Earth's Ionosphere and Plasmasphere
Abstract Cold plasma distribution in the ionosphere‐plasmasphere system governs wave‐particle interactions, plasma energization and loss, and radio wave propagation. A longstanding observational gap at altitudes ∼ ${\sim} $800–8,000 km has largely prevented studying the coupled dynamics of the two regions.

The strong coupling between fluid and electromagnetic field in the annular linear induction pump (ALIP) can gradually amplify small disturbance in the fluid field into large‐scale vortices. The appearance of the vortices seriously affects the efficiency and reliability of the pump.

Cosmic-Ray Feedback from Supernovae in a Parker-unstable Medium
Supernova energy drives interstellar medium (ISM) turbulence and can help launch galactic winds. What difference does it make if 10% of the energy is initially deposited into cosmic rays?

Pulsed power accelerator for material physics experiments
We have developed the design of Thor: a pulsed power accelerator that delivers a precisely shaped current pulse with a peak value as high as 7 MA to a strip-line load.

Magnetohydrodynamic turbulence can drive significant temperature fluctuations in the accretion disk of an active galactic nucleus (AGN). As a result, the disk can be highly inhomogeneous and has a half-light radius larger than the static Shakura and ...
