Experiments in Magnetohydrodynamics

American Journal of Physics, 1970
Three student experiments in magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) are described which show that the electrical conductivity of the local water supply (∼3×10−3 mho/m) can be sufficient to produce observable effects. Measurements are made of the distribution of induced voltage along a diverging duct, the power extracted from a duct under load, and the change in ...

Magnetohydrodynamics and cosmology

General Relativity and Gravitation, 1978
It is well known that the Maxwell equations are connected to Minkowski space-time and to the Poincare group. If we pass to the De Sitter universe with constant curvature, i.e., to the “projective relativity,” we must generalize the Maxwell equations in such a way to make them invariants for the Fantappie group.

Blood flows and magnetohydrodynamics

2009
In order to improve the quality of the images provided by Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), the magnetic field used in MRI is getting larger and larger: from 3T nowadays, it might increase in the future up to 10T in clinical scanners. The impact of such a large magnetic field on health is still in debate.

Turbulence in Magnetohydrodynamics

1962
The most interesting and probably the least understood flow problem is the turbulent flow. The essential characteristic of turbulent flow is that the turbulent fluctuations are random in nature; hence, the final and logical solution of the turbulence problem requires the application of the methods of statistical mechanics.
