Neutrino magnetohydrodynamics

open access: yes, 2016
A new neutrino magnetohydrodynamics (NMHD) model is formulated, where the effects of the charged weak current on the electron-ion magnetohydrodynamic fluid are taken into account.

Shafranov's virial theorem and magnetic plasma confinement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Shafranov's virial theorem implies that nontrivial magnetohydrodynamical equilibrium configurations must be supported by externally supplied currents. Here we extend the virial theorem to field theory, where it relates to Derrick's scaling argument on ...

An extended hybrid magnetohydrodynamics gyrokinetic model for numerical simulation of shear Alfv\'en waves in burning plasmas

open access: yes, 2010
Adopting the theoretical framework for the generalized fishbonelike dispersion relation, an extended hybrid magnetohydrodynamics gyrokinetic simulation model has been derived analytically by taking into account both thermal ion compressibility and ...

A Second-Order Unsplit Godunov Scheme for Cell-Centered MHD: the CTU-GLM scheme [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We assess the validity of a single step Godunov scheme for the solution of the magneto-hydrodynamics equations in more than one dimension. The scheme is second-order accurate and the temporal discretization is based on the dimensionally unsplit Corner ...

Magnetohydrodynamic jets*

open access: yesPhysics of Plasmas, 1994
In a series of three idealized magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) calculations in cylindrical geometry, we show that an azimuthal magnetic field can produce well-collimated jets by the pinch effect. In a laser-produced plasma, the magnetic field is generated by crossed density and temperature gradients (∇n×∇T), and may be responsible for the ‘‘imprint problem.’’

Relativistic magnetohydrodynamics

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
We present the equations of relativistic hydrodynamics coupled to dynamical electromagnetic fields, including the effects of polarization, electric fields, and the derivative expansion.

Notes on the exact solutions and singularities of an X-point collapse in Hall magnetohydrodynamics

open access: yes, 2018
A recent paper by A.~Z.~Janda [J.~Math.~Phys.~{\bf 59}, 061509 (2018)] presented a partial solution of the equations of dissipationless Hall magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) in terms of the Weierstrass elliptic function. Unfortunately, an error crept up in the

Hydrodynamic and magnetohydrodynamic computations inside a rotating sphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Numerical solutions of the incompressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations are reported for the interior of a rotating, perfectly-conducting, rigid spherical shell that is insulator-coated on the inside.

Experimental, numerical and analytical evaluation of -thrust for fast-liquid-metal-flow divertor systems of nuclear fusion devices

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
Divertor systems of fusion devices are exposed to intense heat loads from plasmas, which degrade solid plasma-facing components. Fast liquid metal (LM) flow divertors may be more advantageous for this purpose but have risk of piling due to intense ...

Dual strings and magnetohydrodynamics

open access: yes, 1995
We investigate whether dual strings could be solutions of the magnetohydrodynamics equations in the limit of infinite conductivity. We find that the induction equation is satisfied, and we discuss the Navier-Stokes equation (without viscosity) with the ...
