Ferromagnetic micromechanical magnetometer
Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2001A novel micromechanical magnetometer has been designed, fabricated, and tested that consists of low-stress electrodeposited hard magnetic alloys and surface micromachined polysilicon structures. The sensor responds to applied magnetic fields without consuming any power and the magnitude of the response is scale independent. By optically measuring their

Cavity Optomechanical Magnetometers
2016This chapter introduces a new form of magnetometer which combines precision cavity optomechanical measurement with magnetostrictive material response. Such magnetometers can be fabricated on-chip and function both at room temperature and in earths magnetic field.

A Recording Torque Magnetometer
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1950This instrument produces, automatically, a curve of torque versus angle of orientation for a thin iron or steel disk in a strong magnetic field. A resistance strain gauge converts the torque acting on the disk specimen to a small d.c. voltage, which is recorded on a ``strip-chart'' recording potentiometer.

Faraday rotation in ferrites at microwave frequencies is applied experimentally to a new magnetometer technique expected to attain extreme sensitivity. The microwave output voltage is linearly, related to the magnetic field. Sensitivity is a function of microwave carrier level, length and initial permeability of the ferrite rotator.
