Investigations on deformation behavior of square box deep drawing using a magnetorheological fluid (MRF)

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2018
The magnetic medium-assisted sheet forming is a new flexible die forming, which can give full play to comprehensive advantages and characteristics of common force-transmitting mediums, such as liquid, semi-solid, and solid mediums, and play the role of directional, quantitative, and controllable loading effect.

Material removal rate model for magnetorheological finishing (MRF) of optical glasses with nanodiamond MR fluid

Optifab 2007: Technical Digest, 2007
We present a material removal rate model for MRF of optical glasses using nanodiamond MR fluid. The new model incorporates terms for drag force, polishing particle properties, chemical durability and glass composition into an existing model that contains only terms for the glass mechanical properties. Experimental results for six optical glasses are

Optimal particle ratio to maximize the dynamic range of magnetorheological fluid (MRF) damper for prosthetic limb

2015 10th Asian Control Conference (ASCC), 2015
Amputation is a process of removing part of the body through surgery. Common reasons for limb amputations include diseases, poor blood circulation to the limb and severe injuries. In order to assist amputees to lead a normal life, prosthetic limb — the artificial device that replaces missing body part, needs to be designed as close as human limb.

Combined slit and plate–plate magnetorheometry of a magnetorheological fluid (MRF) and parameterization using the Casson model

Rheologica Acta, 2009
We describe a magneto-slit die of 0.34 mm height and 4.25 mm width attached to a commercial piston capillary rheometer, enabling the measurement of apparent flow curves of a magnetorheological fluid (MRF) in the high shear rate regime (apparent shear rates 276 up to 20,700 s − 1, magnetic flux density up to 300 mT).

Effects of Changes in Fluid Composition on Magnetorheological Finishing (MRF) of Glasses and Crystals

2002
Magnetorheological (MR) fluids for fine finishing of optical components consist of magnetic carbonyl iron (CI) particles and nonmagnetic polishing abrasives in a carrier liquid. With a solids loading of over 40 volume percent, these fluids incorporate surfactants and other additives to help stabilize them against sedimentation and corrosion during ...
