Synthesis and Magnetorheology Study of Iron Oxide and Iron Cobalt Oxide Suspensions

open access: yesJournal of Nanomaterials, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
This study investigates the magnetorheology (MR) of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) that contains magnetic powders of various compositions, shapes, and concentrations. Two magnetic powders, Fe3O4 and CoFe2O4, were synthesized. TEM images reveal that a powder of spherical particles was obtained at high temperature.

The Study of Magnetorheology of Iron Oxide Nanowires

open access: yesJournal of Nanomaterials, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
In this work, circular Fe3O4 particles with a diameter of 24 nm and quasicircular Fe3O4 particles with a diameter of 10 nm were synthesized using peptization and coprecipitation methods, respectively. The coprecipitated particles were further formed into Fe3O4 nanowires at high temperature and high pressure in a strongly alkaline environment.

Relationship between aggregate regime and magneto-rheology of a ferromagnetic rod-like particle suspension by means of Brownian dynamics simulations

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2016
In the present study, we focus on a ferromagnetic rod-like particle suspension to discuss the dependence of the magneto-rheological properties on the regime of aggregates of the magnetic rod-like particles.

Magnetic and magnetorheological properties of nanofiber suspensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
International audienceIn this work the preparation and characterization of magnetorheological (MR) fluids constituted by CoNi nanofibers (56 nm length, 6.6 nm width) are reported. The properties of these new fluids were characterized by usual techniques (

Magnetic Thixotropic Fluid for Direct-Ink-Writing 3D Printing: Rheological Study and Printing Performance

open access: yesColloids and Interfaces
Yield stress and thixotropy are critical rheological properties for enabling successful 3D printing of magnetic colloidal systems. However, conventional magnetic colloids, typically composed of a single dispersed phase, exhibit insufficient rheological ...

Study of magnetorheology and sensing capabilities of graphite based MR elastomers

open access: yes, 2011
This study focuses on the magnetorheology and sensing capabilities of graphite based MR Elastomers (Gr MREs). By introducing graphite to conventional MREs, the Gr MREs with various graphite weight fraction are derived. Both steady state tests and dynamic

Study of the magnetorheology of aqueous suspensions of extremely bimodal magnetite particles

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper we describe the magnetorheological behavior of aqueous suspensions consisting of magnetite particles of two size populations, in the micrometer and nanometer scale, respectively.

Steady shear rheological response of ferrofluids containing hydrophilic fumed silica under magnetic fields

open access: yesFriction
This study investigates the steady shear rheological behavior of water-based ferrofluids composited with hydrophilic fumed silica under different magnetic field strengths, with particular attention paid to avoiding gelation that reduces fluidity.

Magneto-rheology control of cementitious materials: principles, current status, and opportunities

open access: yesRILEM Technical Letters
Magneto-rheology control, an advanced active rheology control (ARC) technique, is achieved by applying an external magnetic field to a cementitious mixture with responsive additives.

Double-gap bicone magnetorheology in steady shear under homogeneous magnetic and flow fields

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
We design, fabricate, and test a double-gap bicone magnetorheological (MR) device to measure steady shear rheological properties of MR fluids under saturating magnetic fields (i.e., large enough to saturate the MR fluids).
