Magnetospheric turbulence and properties of magnetospheric dynamics

Advances in Space Research, 2008
Abstract High level of turbulence is one of the main peculiarities inherent to magnetospheric dynamics. Mechanisms for generation of magnetospheric turbulence are analyzed. The instabilities in the plasma pressure distribution are examined as source of large and medium scale modes in the turbulence spectra.

The Pulsar Magnetosphere

Astrophysics and Space Science, 2000
Domains of the pulsar magnetosphere, both within and without the light-cylinder, are studied under varying provisional assumptions. Some of the qualitative features emerging should persist in the ultimate synthesis of a completely self-consistent model.

A survey of low-energy electrons in the evening sector of the magnetosphere with OGO 1 and OGO 3.

, 1968
Observations of electrons of energy 125 ev to ∼2 kev with the OGO 1 satellite and of electrons of energy 40 ev to ∼2 kev with OGO 3 (by means of modulated Faraday cup detectors) are used to investigate the low-energy electron population in the ...

The Terrestrial Magnetosphere

1998
A magnetosphere is shaped by the interaction between a planetary magnetic field and the solar wind. The magnetopause is a discontinuity separating both fields, forming a cavity in the solar wind. Since the solar wind is a supersonic flow, a standing shock wave, the bow shock, develops in front of the magnetopause.
