The Genus Magnetospirillum gen. nov. Description of Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense sp. nov. and Transfer of Aquaspirillum magnetotacticum to Magnetospirillum magnetotacticum comb. nov.

Systematic and Applied Microbiology, 1991
Summary A magnetotactic spirillum (strain MSR-1) was isolated from the mud of the eutrophic river Ryck near Greifswald. Its morphological, ultrastructural and biochemical characteristics were compared with those of Aquaspirillum magnetotacticum. A cell suspension of strain MSR-1 was used to amplify in vitro 16S rRNA genes (rDNA).

Torsional Magnetic Angle for Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense

2021
In the present study we tested magnetosomes isolated from the magnetic bacterium Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense for their magnetic qualities when embedded in three different environmental surroundings: (1) medium (Phosphate buffer saline PBS), (2) gelatin gel matrix and as (3) powder. (3) is used as base line (standard control).

Reduced inorganic sulfur oxidation supports autotrophic and mixotrophic growth of Magnetospirillum strain J10 and Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense

Environmental Microbiology, 2010
Summary Magnetotactic bacteria are present at the oxic–anoxic transition zone where opposing gradients of oxygen and reduced sulfur and iron exist. Growth of non‐magnetotactic lithoautotrophic Magnetospirillum strain J10 and its close relative magnetotactic
