Experimental methods in chemical engineering: Magnetometry

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Magnetometry is a non‐invasive technique to characterize the behaviour of magnetic materials of which the most common contain Fe, Co, and Ni. Vibrating sample magnetometers (VSMs) vibrate samples at a fixed frequency in a static, homogeneous magnetic field to induce a voltage in pick up coils according to Faraday's law of induction.

Engineering Layered Magnetic Hydrogels for Cell Placement via Shear and Magnetic Field‐Induced Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 44, 7 August 2026.
Magnetic particles are organized into layered architectures by combining shear flow and magnetic fields, with the resulting structures governed by appropriate Mason numbers. The programmed assemblies provide spatial guidance for cell placement, linking field‐controlled self‐assembly, flow‐induced structuring and biological organization.

BASIC DONKIN'S DIFFERENTIAL OPERATORS FOR HOMOGENEOUS HARMONIC FUNCTIONS

open access: yesSt. Petersburg Polytechnical University Journal: Physics and Mathematics, 2019
It is shown that there are the differential operators that transform three-dimensional homogeneous harmonic functions into new three-dimensional homogeneous harmonic functions.

Extending Field Limits in Nanoscale Magnetic Imaging With Metamaterial‐Inspired Magnetic Flux Concentrators

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 43, 3 August 2026.
Micrometer‐sized flower‐shaped metamaterial magnetic flux concentrators are fabricated directly around nano and micromagnetic samples, enabling local field enhancement. Integrated into magnetic sensitive photoemission electron microscopy, they extend the available magnetic field range by up to a factor of five.

Optimization of high-voltage test transformer design

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Проблемы энергетики
The paper considers the solution to the problem of multicriterial optimization of the high-voltage test transformer design using the NSGA-II algorithm. The optimization criteria are the mass of active materials, losses, and the ratio of the capacitance ...

GENERALIZATION OF THE THOMSON FORMULA FOR HARMONIC FUNCTIONS OF A GENERAL TYPE

open access: yesSt. Petersburg Polytechnical University Journal: Physics and Mathematics, 2019
It is shown that the Thomson formula for three-dimensional harmonic functions is unique. Namely, there are no other formulas of this type, with the exception of the trivial change of variables in the form of shifts, reflections, rotations and stretching ...

Axial magnetostatics of a ring current in a Kerr field [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics, 2001
The electromagnetic fields generated by a ring current around a Kerr black hole have been found. The acceleration of a charged particle by a force electric field along the rotation axis is investigated in the constructed model, as applied to the astrophysics of quasars.

Questioning Your Brilliance in Physics: Differential Shifts in Fixed Mindsets by Grade and Gender

open access: yesJournal of Research in Science Teaching, Volume 63, Issue 6, Page 514-530, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Students' domain‐specific mindsets and their beliefs about their capacity to improve through effort play a crucial role in shaping their experiences and decisions to persist in STEM disciplines. Physics is generally seen as a field requiring innate brilliance, which can reinforce fixed mindsets, particularly after initial setbacks in ...
