In principle, magnification of interaural differences, as could be achieved by the use of an enlarged head, will improve auditory spatial perception. This note presents some preliminary thoughts and observations on a signal-processing scheme for interaural magnification.

Magnification lymphography was performed on 37 patients, 22 of whom were suffering from bladder carcinoma, and compared with non-magnification lymphograms by two observers independently. The magnification lymphograms were performed on a Siemens Microfocus Bi 125/3/50 RG tube with a 0.1 mm focal spot.

The use of today's highly sophisticated dental materials has required a corresponding increase in the technical skills of the operator. Surgical telescopes with high resolution and contrast are replacing plastic lenses of somewhat lesser quality. Moreover, depending on their frame mounting, these ground glass magnifiers are also offering the operator ...

On Leeuwenhoek's magnifications
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 1979The thesis of this communication is that the 'secret method' of Leeuwenhoek was the augmentation of the magnification of his single glass lens by the refraction at the quasi-hemispherical surface of a column of liquid containing the microorganisms. The linear increase in magnification thus secured could be as much as three-fold, depending on the degree

A brilliantly lit, magnified, stereoscopic view of an operating field is of some advantage when operating on small structures, and is essential with structures that can be resolved only with difficulty. Manual dexterity rapidly improves with practice to meet the needs created by better visualization. The axes, coordinates, and dynamics of equipment are

Nonlinear magnification fields
Proceedings of VIZ '97: Visualization Conference, Information Visualization Symposium and Parallel Rendering Symposium, 2002We introduce nonlinear magnification fields as an abstract representation of nonlinear magnification, providing methods for converting transformation routines to magnification fields and vice-versa. This new representation provides ease of manipulation and power of expression.

Magnification Coronary Arteriography
Radiology, 1971A superior technique for visualizing the coronary arteries using a fractional focal spot tube (0.3 mm) and a comparatively small air gap (4 to 8 inches) is described. Mild magnification of the coronary arteries results. Compared with the standard 2 mm focal spot tube and 1,000mA technique, resolution is superior, as shown in phantom studies as well as ...

Many patients with subnormal vision who have been relegated to a nonvisual life can be rehabilitated with proper magnifying devices. While most of these devices are applicable to near-vision problems only, some are useful for distance functions. There is nothing new or mysterious about the principles and application of magnification in the problem of ...

Magnification and Microminiature Inspection
Human Factors: The Journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, 1971Experienced and naive subjects used a binocular microscope to inspect microminiature patterns (O's) containing occasional defective elements (C's). Detection of defective elements was significantly affected by the level of magnification. The performance curves indicate the existence of a level of magnification which will minimize time per correct ...
