ABSTRACT The goal of this study is to confirm the feasibility of the use of digitized low dispersive MtWilson Michigan Southern Sky Hα$$ \alpha $$ survey astronomical photographic plates for modern astrophysical research. The detection of highly redshifted objects, such as early galaxies and quasars, is fundamental to understanding the universe's ...

Roles of 2D halide perovskites in 2D/3D heterojunctions for high‐performance perovskite solar cells
This review establishes a design framework for two‐dimensional (2D)/three‐dimensional (3D) perovskite heterojunctions, redefining the 2D perovskite layer as an active semiconductor component. We classify 2D structures by spacer chemistry and analyze their roles within the heterojunction.

Non‐negative Gaussian estimation of variance components in random effects models
Abstract When used to estimate variance components (VCs), confidence intervals (CIs) can be truncated at zero, have a point estimate not in the quoted CI, be empty with positive probability, or be all‐inclusive. This is because they have conflicting dual roles, since they are considered to cover the parameter with a specified probability while also ...

Abstract Understanding the dynamic nature of developmental networks requires live imaging techniques capable of capturing real‐time developmental processes in wild‐type and mutant embryos as they are exposed to pharmacological perturbations. A peculiar developmental patterning process in early vertebrate embryos is the sequential segmentation of ...

Ti3C2Tx MXene and Ag nanoparticles are embedded into piezoelectric nanofibers to form a stretchable, self‐powered coil that converts mechanical deformation into electrical energy. The device enables controllable power output during stretching and release while maintaining a compact and lightweight architecture, making it suitable for miniaturized ...

Two aspects of solar MHD are discussed in relation to the work of the MHD simulation group at KIS. Photospheric magneto-convection, the nonlinear interaction of magnetic field and convection in a strongly stratified, radiating fluid, is a key process of ...

Space debris contributions to night sky brightness
Aims. We quantify the uncertainty in space debris contributions to night sky brightness by comparing predictions from two major debris environment models and assessing the resulting signal-to-noise degradation for ground-based astronomical observations ...

Star formation rates as a function of galaxy mass [PDF]
Correlations were found between the colors and absolute magnitudes of spiral galaxies. Using optical and/or near IR (1.6 micron) colors, it was found that lower luminosity spirals are systematically bluer than higher luminosity spirals.

A π‐conjugated carbazole (p‐CBZ) layer is electro‐polymerized on BiVO4 to form a p–n heterojunction that enhances charge separation and suppresses surface recombination, while a NiOOH co‐catalyst accelerates oxygen evolution kinetics. The synergistic BVO/p‐CBZ/NiOOH photoanode delivers a high photocurrent density and long‐term stability for efficient ...

Imperfection in Semiconductors Leading to High Performance Devices
Semiconductors form the basis of high‐performance optoelectronic devices, enabling efficient light emission and detection. While crystalline perfection is generally sought to optimize device performance, specific lattice defects can endow materials with ...
