Toward a homogeneous moment-magnitude determination for earthquakes in Greece and the surrounding area

Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1997
Abstract A strategy is presented in order to produce a statistically homogeneous catalog of historical and present-century earthquakes of the Aegean area by expressing the size of all these earthquakes in the moment-magnitude scale. Records of the Mainka and Wiechert intermediate period (T0 ∼ 4 sec) seismographs in Athens have been used ...

Abundance Homogeneity and Absolute Magnitudes of the Hyades Moving Group

Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1968
The Hyades moving group shows a distribution of rri' metal-abundance indices intermediate between the Hyades-cluster and field-star distributions, indicating a mixture of both. Group parallaxes give a mean absolute magnitude brighter by 0φ3 than is obtained from the Stromgren Ci index, while for the Hyades cluster the agreement is very good.

Determination of reliable earthquake magnitudes by means of a homogeneous system of reference stations

Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 1982
Abstract A homogeneous magnitude-estimation system (HMS) comprising 32 selected seismic stations has been established on the Eurasian continent utilising the method of successive optimisation of station corrections and calibrating functions for estimating earthquake magnitudes from PVs, PV, PH, SV, SH, LV, and LH waves.

Gradient of surface potential on a homogeneous sphere: lateral hemispheric mean magnitude

Images of the Twenty-First Century. Proceedings of the Annual International Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2003
The lateral hemispheric mean of the magnitude of the gradient of scalp surface potential due to an eccentric current dipole source was determined for various source positions and orientations within a homogeneous conductive sphere. It was found that a source positioned in one hemisphere can produce a mean gradient which is larger on the surface of the ...

Effects of homogeneous and variable exposure on magnitude of adaptation to optical tilt.

Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 1981
Repeated exposure to hallway exploration, alternated with periods of either watching the active hand or exploring a different set of hallways, maintains increasing visual adaptation beyond the point in time at which previous studies using homogeneous exposure have found such visual shift (VS) to be asymptotic.

THE INFLUENCE OF HELMHOLTZ COIL GEOMETRY ON THE MAGNITUDE AND HOMOGENEITY OF THE MAGNETIC FIELD

BULLETIN of D. Serikbayev EKTU
Creating installations capable of generating a stable and controllable homogeneous magnetic field is a complex and urgent technical task in the field of applied engineering. Controlling the magnetic field enables efficient manipulation of ferromagnetic micro- and nanoparticles, which opens up applications of homogeneous magnetic fields in

Adaptation of high-resolution NMR spectrometers for chemical microscopy. Evaluation of gradient magnitudes and B1 homogeneity

Journal of Magnetic Resonance (1969), 1984
Abstract Details are given of the use of phantoms, assembled from sets of liquid-filled tubes, for evaluating the magnitudes of the linear field gradients produced by the shim coils of a conventional high-resolution NMR spectrometer and of the B1 inhomogeneity of high-resolution probes.

Optimisation of amplitude curves of seismic P-, S- and L-waves in the homogeneous magnitude system of the Eurasian continent

Tectonophysics, 1982
Abstract Amplitude curves for seismic P-, S- and L-waves have been constructed on the basis of the homogeneous magnitude system of the Eurasian continent. The optimum amplitude curves are compared with the standard amplitude curves used in seismological practice.

The elastic problem of a homogeneous circular ring acted upon by equally spaced concentrated twists of equal magnitude

Ingenieur-Archiv, 1958
With the reservation and assumptions stated at the beginning of the preceding Section 8 the results derived in the present paper can be briefly formulated as follows:
