Why Are Widely Distributed Species Widely Distributed? Understanding From a Quantified Investment Acquisition Strategy

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 11, November 2024.
PCA quantification can effectively quantify the investment acquisition strategy. Plant investment acquisition strategy is slowed down by severe drought and heat. Widely distributed species have a faster investment acquisition strategy. ABSTRACT Research on plant functional traits have advanced our understanding of plant investment acquisition ...

The genome sequence of Inga oerstediana Benth. [PDF]

open access: yes
We present a genome assembly from an individual of Inga oerstediana (Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Fabales; Fabaceae). The genome sequence has a total length of 970.60 megabases. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 13 chromosomal pseudomolecules.

Diet of Andean Leaf‐Eared Mice (Phyllotis) Living at Extreme Elevations on Atacama Volcanoes: Insights From Metagenomics, DNA Metabarcoding, and Stable Isotopes

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 11, November 2024.
On the flanks of > 6000 m Andean volcanoes that tower over the Atacama Desert, leaf‐eared mice (Phyllotis vaccarum) live at extreme elevations that surpass known vegetation limits. We used a combination of metagenomics, DNA metabarcoding, and stable isotope analyses to investigate the diet of mice living in these extreme environments.

Evolution of gene networks underlying adaptation to drought stress in the wild tomato Solanum chilense

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 21, November 2024.
Abstract Drought stress is a key limitation for plant growth and colonization of arid habitats. We study the evolution of gene expression response to drought stress in a wild tomato, Solanum chilense, naturally occurring in dry habitats in South America.

Use of eDNA and conventional sampling methods to survey rock pool (gnamma) biodiversity on granite inselbergs

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 49, Issue 8, August 2024.
Environmental DNA sampling coupled with high‐throughput sequencing is increasingly recognized as a useful method for assessing biodiversity with potential applications in terrestrial environments. Rock pools on granite inselbergs support diverse aquatic communities, yet the application of eDNA to document their biodiversity is lacking.
