Breakup of a long-period comet as the origin of the dinosaur extinction
The origin of the Chicxulub impactor, which is attributed as the cause of the K/T mass extinction event, is an unsolved puzzle. The background impact rates of main-belt asteroids and long-period comets have been previously dismissed as being too low to ...

Dynamical evolution of V-type photometric candidates in the outer Main-belt
V-type asteroids, characterized by two absorption bands at 1.0 and 2.0 $\mu m$, are usually thought to be portions of the crust of differentiated or partially differentiated bodies.

MAIN BELT ASTEROIDS WITH WISE/NEOWISE. I. PRELIMINARY ALBEDOS AND DIAMETERS [PDF]
We present initial results from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE), a four-band all-sky thermal infrared survey that produces data well suited for measuring the physical properties of asteroids, and the NEOWISE enhancement to the WISE mission

3D SR‐μXCT analysis for lithology detection: Application to Ryugu sample A0159
Abstract Extraterrestrial breccia samples are formed through impact‐related processes that combine the fragments of distinct lithologies. As such, they are valuable indicators of the complex formation and evolution history of planetesimals in our solar system.

Detection of Hydration on Nominally Anhydrous S-complex Main Belt Asteroids
We present the results of a survey of nominally anhydrous main belt S-complex asteroids. Thirty-three observations of 29 unique asteroids were obtained using the IRTF+SpeX instrument in prism and LXD short modes.

Abstract We present high‐precision Ni stable isotope data for mesosiderites, eucrites, and diogenites to investigate the accretion and differentiation of asteroid 4 Vesta. Ni isotope variations in eucrites and diogenites are dominated by kinetic diffusion and chondritic contamination, rendering them unsuitable for reconstructing Vesta's primitive Ni ...

Abstract Mass mortality from disease epidemics challenges the resistance and resilience of populations and communities. Assessing the impacts and consequences of such events is crucially dependent on long‐term datasets. In 2013–2016, sea star wasting disease (SSWD) caused population‐wide crashes of the archetypal keystone species, the sea star Pisaster

Insights on the Rotational State and Shape of Asteroid (203) Pompeja from TESS Photometry
The Main Belt asteroid (203) Pompeja shows evidence of extreme variability in visible and near-infrared spectral slope with time. The observed spectral variability has been hypothesized to be attributed to spatial variations across Pompeja’s surface.
