Polarimetry of main belt asteroids: Wavelength dependence

Icarus, 2009
New UBVRI polarimetric observations of ten asteroids, including space mission targets 1 Ceres and 21 Lutetia, are presented. These observations were obtained with the 1.25-m telescope of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory and have been used to study the wavelength dependence of polarization for a sample of asteroids belonging to the M and low albedo

Late accretion of Ceres-like asteroids and their implantation into the outer main belt

Nature Astronomy, 2023
Low-albedo asteroids preserve a record of the primordial Solar System planetesimals and the conditions in which the solar nebula was active. However, the origin and evolution of these asteroids are not well constrained.

Subaru Main Belt Asteroid Survey (SMBAS)—Size and color distributions of small main-belt asteroids

Planetary and Space Science, 2007
Abstract Since February, 2001, we have been conducting a series of survey observations to investigate the physical property of very small Main Belt Asteroids (sub-km MBAs) using the Subaru prime-focus camera (Suprime-Cam) attached to the 8.2 m Subaru telescope. We call our surveys “SMBAS: Subaru Main-Belt Asteroids Survey”.

The DECam Ecliptic Exploration Project (DEEP). VII. The Strengths of Three Superfast Rotating Main-belt Asteroids from a Preliminary Search of DEEP Data

Astronomical Journal
Superfast rotators (SFRs) are small solar system objects that rotate faster than generally possible for a cohesionless rubble pile. Their rotational characteristics allow us to make inferences about their interior structure and composition.

JWST sighting of decametre main-belt asteroids and view on meteorite sources

Nature
Asteroid discoveries are essential for planetary-defence efforts aiming to prevent impacts with Earth1, including the more frequent2 megaton explosions from decametre impactors3, 4, 5–6.

Small main-belt asteroid lightcurve survey

Icarus, 1992
The Small Main-Belt Asteroid Lightcurve Survey is the first to measure main-belt asteroid lightcurve properties for bodies with diameters smaller than 5 km. Attention is given to CCD lightcurves for 32 small main-belt asteroids. The objects of this sample have a mean rotational frequency which is faster than that of larger main-belt asteroids.

Fast Accessibility Evaluation of the Main-Belt Asteroids Manned Exploration Mission Based on a Learning Method

IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation, 2018
Accessibility evaluation is the primary step for the selection of the visiting target before the implementation of the main-belt asteroids manned exploration mission.
