11264 Claudiomaccone: Small binary main-belt asteroid
Planetary and Space Science, 2007Abstract Photometric CCD observations of the small main-belt asteroid 11 264 Claudiomaccone, carried out with the 0.7-m telescope at Chuguev Observation Station (Kharkiv, Ukraine) in November 2004 and the 1-m telescope at Simeiz Observatory (Crimea, Ukraine) in December 2004, have shown the presence of two different periods in asteroid brightness ...

Main Belt Asteroid Sample Return Mission Design
46th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference & Exhibit, 2010The Dawn spacecraft is on its way to rendezvous with two main belt asteroids, Ceres and Vesta. The science community is already anticipating compelling results that would dictate a sample return mission. Asteroid sample return missions are already highlighted in the Decadal Survey and are directly solicited through the New Frontiers mission ...

Low-Cost Main-Belt Asteroid Sample Return
Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 2001A main-belt asteroid sample return without landing on the asteroid is proposed. The spacecraft collects the sample during the asteroid yby, crossing the dust cloud produced by a projectile, and delivers the sample to the Earth. To lower the launch energy, the spacecraft uses a Venus and Earth gravity assist trajectory type maneuver.

Asteroid Proper Elements and the Dynamical Structure of the Asteroid Main Belt
Icarus, 1994Abstract We have computed proper elements for 12,573 asteroids, including all the ones with orbits accurate enough to be useful for family identification. This was done with an upgraded version of our iterative analytical algorithm, resulting in significantly improved accuracy for most asteroids in the low to moderate inclination and eccentricity ...

The number density of main‐belt asteroids
Astronomische Nachrichten, 1997AbstractIn this paper we have studied how the number density of asteroids varies as a function of the mean distance from the sun.

Rogue Asteroids in the Inner Main Asteroid Belt
2014Very red featureless asteroids (spectroscopic D-types) are common among Jupiter Trojans, Hildas, and the outer main belt, and are thought to have formed in the outer solar system. Dynamical models of planetary migration and orbital drift by the Yarkovsky effect predict these D-types could have been transported as close to the sun as the middle main ...

Olivine-rich asteroids in the main asteroid belt
2015Olivine-dominated asteroids, classified as A-types with near-infrared spectral measurements are largely thought to be the mantle remnants of disrupted differentiated small bodies. These A-type asteroids hold clues to asteroid differentiation and to the collisional history of those differentiated bodies.

Main Belt Asteroid Shapes from SuperWASP Photometry
2021The SuperWASP telescope was used to search for exoplanetary transits. It also serendipitously observed Solar System Objects, with a large number of main belt asteroids being observed for at least one apparition by the telescope. Data are available for the year 2004, and then from 2006 to 2012, but data collected after 2006 has remained largely unused ...
