Factors Influencing the Distribution of Maize Weevil (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) Eggs on Maize

Environmental Entomology, 1987
Investigations concerning the influence of four weevil densities, three oviposition/feeding periods, two maize genotypes (susceptible and resistant), and three kernel densities on the aggregation of maize weevil (MW), Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky, eggs indicated that each had a significant impact on egg distribution.

QTL Mapping of Tropical Maize Grain Components Associated with Maize Weevil Resistance

Crop Science, 2010
The maize weevil (MW), Sitophilus zeamais (Motsch.), is a globally distributed pest that causes severe losses in stored maize (Zea mays L.) worldwide. A previous study identified quantitative trait loci (QTL) contributing to reduced grain damage and losses by MW in the maize mapping population CML290 × Muneng‐8128C0HC1‐18‐2‐1‐1.

Maize weevil - stored pest increasing on field

Evaluation of maize weevils Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky infestation on seven varieties of maize

Journal of Stored Products Research, 2015
Sitophilus zeamais (Motschulsky), the maize weevil, is a serious pest of economic importance in stored products in tropical and subtropical countries; infestation often starts in the field, but serious damage is done during maize storage. This study evaluated S. zeamais infestation on seven varieties of maize.
