Immune Response and Gut Microbiota Shift in the Red Palm Weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) Infected With Entomopathogenic Fungus, Beauveria bassiana, Reveal Host‐Pathogen Interactions

open access: yesArchives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, Volume 122, Issue 2, June 2026.
This study reveals a “Microbiota‐Immune Axis” in Beauveria bassiana‐infected larvae, where gut dysbiosis positively correlates with systemic immunity in the fat body. Meanwhile, the hindgut exhibits immune tolerance, highlighting a tissue‐specific trade‐off between combating the pathogen and preserving the gut microbiome.
