Pulmonary function in thalassemia major
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1987Pulmonary function tests were evaluated in 28 Chinese patients with beta-thalassemia major receiving regular transfusions and desferoxamine, and in 34 height-matched normal Chinese children. Comparison of lung function using analysis of covariance with reference to standing height showed that patients with thalassemia had a proportional decrease in ...

Strict majority functions on graphs
Journal of Graph Theory, 1998Summary: An opinion function on a graph \(G= (V,E)\) is a function \(f: V\to \{-1,+1\}\). The vote of a vertex \(v\) is the sum of these function values over the closed neighborhood of \(v\). A strict majority function on a graph \(G\) is an opinion function for which more than half of the vertices have a positive vote.

Endocrine Function in Thalassemia Major
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1968Abstract Seven patients with thalassemia major, ranging in age from 6½ to 23 yr, were studied. Growth retardation was present in all except the youngest patient. Thyroid and adrenal function was normal. Three patients, however, showed an unexplained increase in the serum protein bound iodine level.

Discriminant Functions and Majority Voting
Management Science, 1975This paper is based on the notion of discriminatory power of a pattern classifier acting over a feature space. Discriminant functions are normally used to trace out regions of the feature space corresponding to specific pattern classes. Indeterminate cases occur whenever a pattern lies on a class boundary.
