Post-Traumatic Diaphragmatic Hernia Presenting as Bowel Obstruction 12 Years After a Chest Gunshot Wound: A Rare Delayed Diagnosis. [PDF]

open access: yesCase Rep Surg
Post‐traumatic diaphragmatic hernia (PTDH) is defined as the migration of intra‐abdominal organs into the chest through a pathological defect in the diaphragm caused by trauma. PTDH is a rare condition, occurring in 3%–7% of all thoracoabdominal injuries. Approximately 14.6% of PTDH cases present months to years after the initial trauma.

tPA-GFP is a reliable probe for detecting compound exocytosis in human pancreatic β-cells. [PDF]

open access: yesFASEB Bioadv
Tissue plasminogen activator tagged to GFP (tPA‐GFP) specifically enables the labelling of insulin granules, a type of large dense‐core vesicle of the pancreatic β cells. When compared to other markers widely used to understand the behavior of insulin granules, tPA enabled the detection of the most number of simple (blue arrow) and compound exocytotic (

Molecular Hybrids of Quinoline and Sulfonamide: Design, Synthesis and in Vitro Anticancer Studies. [PDF]

open access: yesChemistryOpen
Diversely functionalized molecular hybrids of quinoline and sulfonamide are designed. Interestingly, all the molecules have exhibited IC50 value >50 against the non‐cancer cells (MRC‐5 and BJ), which indicates the promising non‐cytotoxic nature of the molecules.

Multienzyme (3-in-1)-Mimicking a Single Nucleobase-Derived Bionanozyme for Versatile Environmental and Biomedical Applications. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Healthc Mater
This study reports the development of bioinspired 2D crystalline Bionanozyme derived from a single nucleobase. It effectively mimics multienzyme activity to detect and remove phenolic pollutants, identify disease biomarkers with high sensitivity, and protect cells from oxidative stress.

Design of a bioaugmented soil aquifer treatment for efficient removal of p‐nitrophenol

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, Volume 22, Issue 2, March/April 2023., 2023
Abstract Secondary effluent reclamation and reuse is an effective solution to the water shortage problem, and the safety of reused water is a matter of increasing concern. p‐Nitrophenol (PNP), a common secondary effluent pollutant, can be efficiently removed using the eco‐friendly bioaugmented soil aquifer treatment (SAT) system at the laboratory scale.

The pleasures of ambiguity: pedagogy and musical apprenticeship in an Istanbul art studio

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 632-650, June 2022., 2022
Abstract ‘Dealing with ambiguity’ has become a pressing concern in many spheres of contemporary life, often presented as a ‘survival skill’ in an uncertain world. Working with ambiguity also plays a crucial role in the musical pedagogy of the Ottoman‐Turkish ney (Sufi reed flute), the playing of which I discuss in this article. Rather than a constraint

Chasing the storm: Recruiting non‐hospitalized patients for a multi‐site randomized controlled trial in the United States during the COVID‐19 pandemic

open access: yesClinical and Translational Science, Volume 15, Issue 4, Page 831-837, April 2022., 2022
Abstract Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) remain the gold standard to evaluate clinical interventions, producing the highest level of evidence while minimizing potential bias. Inadequate recruitment is a commonly encountered problem that undermines the completion and generalizability of RCTs—and is even more challenging when enrolling amidst a ...

Examples in the detection of heavy metal ions based on surface‐enhanced Raman scattering spectroscopy

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 10, Issue 18, Page 4419-4445, December 2021., 2021
Abstract Heavy metals have been widely applied in industry, agriculture, and other fields because of their outstanding physics and chemistry properties. However, heavy metal pollution is inevitable in the process of mass production and emission.
