Maladaptive perfectionism, a transdiagnostic personality trait, is associated with depression. Shame has been associated with depressive disorders and to negatively impact its treatment. Interestingly, maladaptive perfectionism and maladaptive shame regulation strategies might be both expressions of an internalizing personality style.
