Pityriasis Versicolor in a Southern Ground Hornbill (Bucorvus leadbeateri)
A 20‐year‐old southern ground hornbill (Bucorvus leadbeateri) developed hyperpigmented macules on its gular pouch, resembling the lesions typically seen in humans with pityriasis versicolor. Cytologic examination revealed over 100 budding yeasts per oil immersion field.

At 12 weeks, anti‐hair loss effects were evident with decreased Pseudomonas, Escherichia‐Shigella and Malassezia and increased Talaromyces and Cutibacterium. Lipid levels were impacted, correlating with Escherichia‐Shigella and Talaromyces. Abstract Hair loss is a complex multifactorial process.
