Therapeutische Umschau, 2016Zusammenfassung. Die atopische Dermatitis (AD) ist eine chronisch entzündliche Hauterkrankung. Dabei findet man recht häufig eine für die Erkrankung nahezu pathognomonische IgE-vermittelte Sensibilisierung auf Hefepilze der Gattung Malassezia spp. Die pathogenetische Rolle von Malassezia spp. bei AD ist noch nicht völlig geklärt.

Epidemiology and variability of Malassezia spp.
Parassitologia, 2008A short review on Malassezia spp., completed with our experience, is made. The main epidemiological characteristics with particular regard to the diffusion in several animal species, the characteristics of skin colonization (in particular of the dog) and the distribution of the different Malassezia spp. in some hosts are discussed.

2019Pityriasis versicolor is a frequently seen superficial infection. It's clinical types are pigmented, achromic, rubra and trichromic. The agent of this disease is called Malessezia spp. which has seven types. Malassezia spp. are also responsible in different dermatologic diseases except pityriasis versicolor.

Occurrence of Malassezia spp. in horses and domestic ruminants
Mycoses, 2002Summary. During a study on the occurrence of Malassezia spp. in 112 animals (50 horses, 25 goats, 25 sheep and 12 cows), Malassezia spp. were isolated from 60% of horses, 28% of sheep, 44% of goats and 58% of cows. In these animals, the occurrence of lipid‐dependent species (42%) was much greater than the occurrence observed for M. pachydermatis (3%).
