Biochemical adaptation of Weigela florida «Variegata» Bunge A. D. C. microclones to salt- and copper induced stress [PDF]
Microclones of perennial shrub Weigela florida «Variegata» were prepared, adapted to the conditions of salinity and increased copper ions proportion during the three-step in vitro experiment.

The beneficial effects of caloric restriction (CR) and a ketogenic diet (KD) have been previously shown when performed prior to kidney injury. We investigated the effects of CR and KD on fibrosis development after unilateral kidney ischemia/reperfusion ...

Increased liver content of DHA‐derived small lipid autacoids (i.e resolvin D1 and maresin 1) associates with enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, fatty acid β‐oxidation and bioenergetic metabolic flux. These features provide hepatic protection from steatotic, pro‐inflammatory and fibrogenic insults.

The NADPH oxidase NOX4 regulates redox and metabolic homeostasis preventing HCC progression
Loss of NOX4 in HCC tumor cells induces metabolic reprogramming in a Nrf2/MYC‐dependent manner to promote HCC progression. Abstract Background and Aims The NADPH oxidase NOX4 plays a tumor‐suppressor function in HCC. Silencing NOX4 confers higher proliferative and migratory capacity to HCC cells and increases their in vivo tumorigenic potential in ...

Disruption of the MreB Elongasome Is Overcome by Mutations in the Tricarboxylic Acid Cycle
The bacterial actin homolog, MreB, is highly conserved among rod-shaped bacteria and essential for growth under normal growth conditions. MreB directs the localization of cell wall synthesis and loss of MreB results in round cells and death.

The photoinhibition of malate dehydrogenase [PDF]
Recently several enzymes which require FMN as a cofactor have been shown to be inhibited by blue light in the presence of added FMN [l-3] . Photoinactivation of the enzyme protein occurred via the formation of triplet FMN. The present paper reports, for the first time, an FMN-mediated photoinhibition of NAD-malate dehydrogenase, a key enzyme of the ...

Determination of acetyl coenzyme A. Interference by a contaminant in malate dehydrogenase
Spectrophotometric determinations of acetyl CoA with malate dehydrogenase and citrate synthase are likely to overestimate the amount of acetyl CoA in solutions containing acetoacetyl CoA, since commercial preparations of malate dehydrogenase may contain ...

The malate-aspartate shuttle is important for de novo serine biosynthesis
Summary: The malate-aspartate shuttle (MAS) is a redox shuttle that transports reducing equivalents across the inner mitochondrial membrane while recycling cytosolic NADH to NAD+.
