Clinical significance of stratifying prostate cancer patients through specific circulating genes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We tested a specific panel of genes representative of luminal, neuroendocrine and stem‐like cells in the blood of prostate cancer patients, showing predictive value from diagnosis to late stages of disease. This approach allows monitoring of treatment responses and outcomes at specific time points in trajectories.

Interaction Mechanisms Quantified from Dynamical Features of Frog Choruses [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Interaction mechanism in the acoustic communication of actual animals is investigated by combining mathematical modeling and empirical data. Here we use a deterministic mathematical model (a phase oscillator model) to describe the interaction mechanism underlying the choruses of male Japanese tree frogs (Hyla japonica) in which the male frogs attempt ...

Are Men Less Generous to a Smarter Woman? Evidence from a Dictator Game Experiment [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Although evidence suggests men are more generous to women than to men, it may stem from paternalism and could reverse when women excel in important skills for one's career success, such as cognitive skills. Using a dictator game, this paper studies whether male dictators allocate less to female receivers than to male receivers when these receivers have

Decrease in Anogenital Distance among Male Infants with Prenatal Phthalate Exposure

open access: yesEnvironmental Health Perspectives, 2005
Prenatal phthalate exposure impairs testicular function and shortens anogenital distance (AGD) in male rodents. We present data from the first study to examine AGD and other genital measurements in relation to prenatal phthalate exposure in humans.

MET variants with activating N‐lobe mutations identified in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinomas still require ligand stimulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MET variants in the N‐lobe of the kinase domain, found in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinoma, require ligand stimulation to promote cell transformation, in contrast to other RTK variants. This suggests that HGF expression in the microenvironment is important for tumor growth in such patients. Their sensitivity to MET inhibitors opens the way for

Antioxidants for male subfertility.

open access: yesCochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2014
BACKGROUND Between 30% to 80% of male subfertility cases are considered to be due to the damaging effects of oxidative stress on sperm and 1 man in 20 will be affected by subfertility.

Classification of acute myeloid leukemia based on multi‐omics and prognosis prediction value

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Unsupervised AML Multi‐Omics Classification System (UAMOCS) integrates genomic, methylation, and transcriptomic data to categorize AML patients into three subtypes (UAMOCS1‐3). This classification reveals clinical relevance, highlighting immune and chromosomal characteristics, prognosis, and therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Frequency and Viability of Diploid and Haploid Males Offsprings of Mated Females of Solitary Endoparasitoid (DIADROMUS Pulchellus) (Ichneumonidae) [PDF]

open access: yesComptes Rendus de l'Academie des Sciences. Serie 3, Sciences de la Vie 324 (2001) 149-158, 2006
Sex determination in the order Hymenoptera is based on arrhenotoky, hymenopteran males are usually haploid and females diploid. Males of the Ichneumonidae Diadromus pulchellus, solitary endoparasitoid of A. assectella pupae are normally haploid, but diploid males are present in a natural population and can be obtained in a experimental population.
