Imaging of the scrotum: beyond sonography

open access: yesInsights into Imaging, 2018
The aim of this article is to describe the role of second-level imaging techniques after an initial ultrasonography evaluation in the assessment of scrotal diseases. While ultrasonography remains central as the primary imaging modality for the evaluation

HucMSC‐Derived Exosomes Preserve Mafb‐Dependent Tubular Epithelial Identity and Suppress Dedifferentiation in Obstructive Nephropathy

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
Unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) and genetic deletion of Mafb lead to tubular epithelial dedifferentiation, characterized by decreased E‐cadherin and increased α‐SMA and vimentin expression. Intravenous administration of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell‐derived exosomes (HucMSC‐Exos) partially restores Mafb expression in UUO kidneys ...

Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cell–Derived Exosomes Attenuate Renal Fibrosis by Suppressing Fibroblast Activation via the INHBA/PI3K/AKT Pathway

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
MSC‐Exo derived from human umbilical cord (HucMSC‐Exo) downregulates INHBA expression, consequently modulating the PI3K/AKT signaling cascade. This regulation attenuates renal fibroblast activation and extracellular matrix deposition, thereby exerting a renoprotective effect against fibrosis.

YAP-mediated GPER signaling impedes proliferation and survival of prostate epithelium in benign prostatic hyperplasia

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) occurs when there is an imbalance between the proliferation and death of prostate cells, which is regulated tightly by estrogen signaling.

MicroRNA‐130a‐3p Targets the Androgen‐Related Transcription Factor MAFB: Effects on Proliferation, Migration, Apoptosis, and Cell Cycle in Hypospadias

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
MicroRNA‐130a‐3p targets and inhibits MAFB expression, leading to the development of hypospadimas. MicroRNA‐130a‐3p inhibits the expression of MAFB, disrupts the normal processes of cell proliferation, migration, cell apoptosis, and cycle progression, and ultimately leads to the development of hypospadias.

Diving Deeper Into Mechanisms of Acrylamide‐Induced Toxicity: RNA Sequencing Reveals Transcriptomic Alteration and Retrotransposon Expression in Drosophila melanogaster

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Given the inevitability of human and animal exposure to acrylamide, there is increasing concern regarding its potential health risks. While a number of molecular mechanisms have been proposed, the complexity of acrylamide toxicological pathways and interactions remains incompletely characterized.

Chronic pelvic pain: comorbidity between chronic musculoskeletal pain and vulvodynia

open access: yesReumatismo, 2014
Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is a common condition that has a major impact on the quality of life of both men and women. Male CPP is usually attributable to well-defined urogenital conditions (most frequently infectious/non infectious prostatic diseases) or

Hormone Replacement Therapy Uptake and Discontinuation Trends From 1996‐2023: An Observational Study of the Welsh Population

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To analyse prescribing trends for oral and transdermal hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in Wales from 1996 to 2023, including predictors of discontinuation within one year of initiation. Design Observational study using the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) databank.
