Gastric mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma is a histologically distinct tumour derived from MALT acquired as a result of Helicobacter pylori infection. Eradication of H. pylori causes clinical regression of the lymphoma in 75% of cases.

This review will describe the current knowledge in the pathophysiology, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of pulmonary MALT (Mucosa Associated Lymphoid Tissue) lymphoma. Pulmonary MALT lymphomas are low-grade B cell lymphoma and are the most frequent lymphomas arising from the lung. Tumour cells arise from mucosa associated lymphoid tissue.

MALT lung lymphoma is a low-grade primarily B-cell lymphoma. Most cases develop in a pain free patient presenting a chronic alveolar opacity. In this review, we describe the clinical radiological and pathological features as well as the diagnostic approach to this pathological entity. Prognosis is excellent. Therapeutic options are discussed.
