Savages provided an unstable but capacious and flexible signifier to explore human development and human difference, most often in ways that followed a disturbing racial logic.

Gender &History, EarlyView.ABSTRACT This article argues that marriage was central to historical change in the Yoruba‐speaking region of West Africa during the eighteenth century. It draws on ìtàn, a distinct oral source, to show that conjugality shaped Yoruba processes of urbanisation and political centralisation, gendered divisions of labour and social innovation and creativity.

From 2011 to 2015, a cartel of sophisticated traders illegally obtained early access to and traded on over 1,000 firm earnings announcements.

Multiple theoretical traditions equate the development and dominance of markets with higher crime rates.
