Scab resistance in Malus sp. progenies - inheritance and resistance stability

open access: yesInternational Journal of Horticultural Science, 2003
Susceptibility of progenies of some Ma/us species to apple scab was evaluated. Susceptibility of hybrid families was observed first in greenhouse after artificial inoculations by the suspension of the pathogen, Venturia inaequalis (Cooke) Wint., then in ...

Solar UV light regulates flavonoid metabolism in apple (Malus x domestica).

open access: yesPlant, Cell and Environment, 2018
Ultraviolet-B light (UV-B) is one environmental signal perceived by plants that affects the flavonoid pathway and influences the levels of anthocyanins, flavonols, and proanthocyanidins.

Role of mitochondrial complex I genes in host plant expansion of Bactrocera tau (Tephritidae: Diptera) by CRISPR/Cas9 system

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
The role of 3 mitochondrial complex I gene in host expansion of Bactrocera tau was verified by CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing system. A stable homogenous strain (Btndufa7‐/‐) of B.tau was established after silencing Ndufa7. The reduced size of larvae and pupae of Ndufa7 knockout strain was first found. Then different levels of fitness and relative expression ...

Analysis of genetic diversity and population structure of the indigenous and exotic wild Malus species using ISSR markers

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2019
The genetic diversity and population structure studies on 32 wild Malus species were conducted using the nine inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers. The average value of diversity indices, viz. resolving power (Rp), polymorphic information content (

Offspring performance does not explain oviposition preference in the leafminer Stigmella sorbi (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae): a tri‐trophic perspective

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
We studied oviposition site selection in a leaf‐mining moth (Stigmella sorbi) on rowan trees (Sorbus aucuparia) in northwestern Russia, assessing larval performance across different shoot types, leaf positions, and leaflets. Larval survival was highest on long vegetative shoots, yet females showed no preference for these optimal sites.
