In Vitro Pollen-Style Interactions in Malus Domestica

1988
Gametophytic self-incompatibility (GSI) is an “ancient” system, perhaps acquired during early stages of the evolution of the Angiosperms (Gibbs, 1986). A very attractive general theory for the GSI mechanism has been advanced by Heslop-Harrison (1983), who proposes that, on the pistil side, S-specific glycoproteins with lectin-like properties, present ...

Suberin nanostructures of Malus domestica Borkh. (Rosaceae) pericarp

Micron
New data are presented on nanosized suberin structures that directly participate in the formation of suberin deposits into the cell walls of the Malus domestica outer pericarp zone. The nanostructures were spherical formations containing conglomerates of electron-dense nanoparticles (diameter 5-30 nm) in the center.
