Internal mammary artery with side-branch
Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2016We present the case of a 72-year-old man who underwent off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting of 4 coronary arteries with exclusive use of the left internal mammary artery with a side-branch (mediastinal artery). Before discharge from the hospital, contrast computed tomography angiography confirmed the patency of all 4 coronary grafts.

The use of bilateral internal mammary artery (BIMA) grafting for myocardial revascularization has been demonstrated to provide long-term benefits compared to revascularization using single left internal mammary artery (SIMA) and venous conduits. However, it is still controversial whether the use of BIMA is associated with a higher hospital mortality ...

A New Internal Mammary Artery Retractor
The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon, 1990A new retractor for asymmetric opening of the chest is presented. The instrument is mainly used for dissection of the internal mammary artery, but other applications are possible such as resection of large mediastinal tumors, or pulmonary resections through median sternotomy.

Techniques to Maximize Mammary Artery Length
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1985The available length of the internal mammary artery has limited its versatility as a bypass conduit. Several techniques for increasing usable internal mammary artery length are described.

Repair of damaged internal mammary artery
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2002The use of the internal mammary artery (IMA) in coronary artery bypass graft surgery is an independent predictor of late survival in all subsets of patients and should not be denied to any subgroup. Therefore damage to the IMA during harvesting is a catastrophic complication after which the graft is usually discarded.

Poststernotomy pseudoaneurysm of the internal mammary artery
General Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2008We present a case of a 79-year-old man who underwent mitral valve and aortic valve replacement. The patient's postoperative period was almost uneventful. At his cardiac preoperative examination, a malignant tumor of the urinary tract had been suspected, so computed tomography (CT) was performed after discharge, on the 48th postoperative day.

Atherosclerosis Involving the Internal Mammary Artery
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1974Abstract Three patients undergoing coronary artery bypass operation at this institution over a two-month period were found to have significant atherosclerotic disease involving the internal mammary artery. All 3 patients were relatively young men with hypertension and severe three-vessel coronary involvement.

The distal latero-circumflex arteries and the posterior descending artery are located so far from the mammary arteries that they cannot be revascularized by the conventional procedure. Reimplantation of the right internal mammary artery (RIMA) used as a free graft into the left internal mammary artery (LIMA) in situ doubles the length of the RIMA, thus

Evaluation of internal mammary artery implantation
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1972Abstract Twenty patients who underwent internal mammary artery implantation for the treatment of incapacitating angina pectoris were studied before and 1 year after operation. Studies included treadmill exercise test, right heart catheterization at rest and during exercise, selective coronary adenography and selective visualization of the implanted ...
