The level of gelatinases in surrounding body fluids of actively remodelling tissue is indicative of basement membrane and extracellular matrix degradation under various physiological and pathological circumstances. To elucidate the association of gelatinase with mammary tissue remodelling during gradual or acute involution, in the first trial, goats ...

Gene expression in the mammary glands of transgenic animals.
Biochemical Society symposium, 1998The gene encoding the milk protein beta-lactoglobulin in sheep is expressed in the mammary gland in a tissue-specific manner during pregnancy and lactation. The unmodified sheep gene behaves appropriately in transgenic mice, and we have shown that many of the cis-acting elements that mediate this pattern of expression are located in the proximal 400 bp

rbST is a peptide hormone banned within the European Union (Council Decision 1999/897/CE). Direct approaches aimed at identifying rbST-treated dairy cattle often produce controversial results. The reason can be found in the difficulty in distinguishing the synthetic molecule from the natural one due to their extreme similarity.

Over the years, numerous studies have investigated the mechanisms controlling nutrient availability and metabolism in the mammary gland and how dietary interventions can influence these processes. The development of in vivo and in vitro systems made it possible to explore the trafficking and metabolic fate of nutrients and how these are influenced by ...

SOURCE OF PULSES FOR IRRADIATION OF MAMMARY GLAND OF BOVINE ANIMALS

A procedure for purification of plasma membranes from bovine mammary gland has been developed. The binding capacity of EGF to the plasma membranes from mammary tissue of pregnant cows was equal to 335 fmol per mg of protein thus being twofold higher than in membranes from lactating gland. The KD values were not changed.
