Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 1984
The concept of the author's technique foresees that the long-term appearance after reduction mammoplasty is dictated by the volume and shape of the remaining glandular adipose tissue, on which the skin gradually contracts. The resection of this tissue obeys the same orientation for small, medium, and large hypertrophic breasts.

Plastic Surgical Nursing, 1992
Breast reduction is a good example of the interface between aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery as both the breast size and eventual appearance of the breast change. Most patients are happy with their decisions to have the surgery for several reasons, including an appreciation of new clothing choices, improved self-image along with a ...

Calcification in Augmentation Mammoplasty
Radiology, 1979Twenty-five cases of augmentation mammoplasty from among 1,600 routine mammograms were divided into paraffin and silicon compound groups. Calcification occurred in 11 cases and was seen in 75% of the paraffin group and 29% of the silicone group. The calcifications in the paraffin group were small, annular, and too numerous to be counted.

A reduction mammoplasty must produce a reduction in volume, a natural lasting shape, and minimal residual scarring. Many attempts to achieve this goal have been developed in recent years. The author described, in 1970, a vertical technique achieving an important reduction and a good shape but with the appearance of the end of the vertical scar below ...

In the breast reduction technique presented, the nipple and areola are carried on a total breast tissue pedicle elevated from the pectoral fascia. Breast tissues are resected inferior to the areola and from the pectoral aspect of the breast. The residual breast tissues are left in continuity with the nipple.

The devil's incision mammoplasty
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 1983Combination of an oblique ellipse with a half-moon incision around the lower half of the areola is presented by the author to treat breast hypotrophy and moderate ptosis without resorting to implant of foreign material. The crescent combined with an oblique ellipse forms a little devil's figure.

A detailed survey on aesthetic augmentation mammoplasty was sent to patients who had undergone this procedure at the Massachusetts General Hospital between July 1973 and July 1991 to determine the incidence of postoperative complications after augmentation mammoplasty, and to qualify the factors related to patient satisfaction (n = 304).

REDUCTION AND AUGMENTATION MAMMOPLASTY
Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics of North America, 1994Women seek reduction mammoplasty for alleviation of their symptoms of mammary hypertrophy, which may include upper back and neck pain, strain, or muscle spasm.
