Temporal‐Parotid Resection for Malignant Parotid Tumors: A Systematic Review

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Parotid gland tumors represent a complex surgical challenge. Temporal‐parotid resection (TPR) is indicated to manage temporal bone invasion. Thirteen studies investigated the role of TPR in literature, including 336 patients. High rates of negative margins and local disease control are achieved with TPR.

Calcium, snails, and birds: a case study [PDF]

open access: yesWeb Ecology, 2000
Recent studies have shown that wild birds breeding in acidified areas have difficulties with obtaining sufficient calcium for their eggshells, and that the cause of it is the shortage of land snails.

Evaluation and comparison of three-dimensional finite element analysis of stress distribution in immediately placed and loaded conventional and customized three-dimensional printed dental implants

open access: yesJournal of Indian Society of Periodontology, 2023
Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the stress distribution patterns in immediately placed and loaded conventional and customized three-dimensional (3D) printed dental implants by 3D finite element analysis.

Colours of urban selection: carotenoid‐based signals reveal divergent urban/rural evolutionary trajectories in two closely related passerines

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Urbanisation is a major driver of environmental change, reshaping ecological and evolutionary processes. Urban‐driven phenotypic differences are increasingly documented, but the underlying role of selection is still understudied. One pattern is the consistent reduction of carotenoid‐based plumage pigmentation in city birds.

Mida lemmikud vajavad? Teadus loomade heaolust [PDF]

open access: yesMäetagused, 2006

The therapeutic efficacy and macrofilaricidal activity of doxycycline for the treatment of river blindness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background. Onchocerca volvulus and lymphatic filariae, causing river blindness and elephantiasis, depend on endosymbiotic Wolbachia bacteria for growth, development, fertility, and survival.

Actuation and Charging Mechanisms of Thin PEDOT:PSS Films Probed by Electrochemical AFM and Impedance Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
The actuation of thin films of PEDOT:PSS has been characterized by electrochemical AFM. A relative decrease in the actuation behavior in dependence of the film thickness has been observed. The underlying mechanisms have been elucidated by chronoamperometry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The decreasing relative actuation is attributed to an

‘Using anuran community diversity and Pseudacris crucifer to predict landscape quality across a land use gradient'

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
As human‐modified landscape and climate changes proliferate, maintaining biodiversity and understanding the function and quality of available habitat is imperative. As anurans (frogs/toads) such as Pseudacris crucifer, can be an indicator species of habitat quality and ecosystem productivity, studying the anuran community in a mixed‐land use region ...
