Human cerebral arterial morphogenesis explored by 3D microscopic imaging of cleared embryos: Bridging the gap between embryonic and adult anatomy

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
We provide a description of human embryonic cerebral arterial development based on whole‐mount immunostaining, tissue clearing, three‐dimensional (3D) light‐sheet microscopy imaging, and anatomically informed virtual segmentation of human embryos. Findings are compared with adult radiological anatomy. We provide a detailed account of the development of

The XenCart Protocol: A method for Alcian blue labeling and quantitative analysis of craniofacial cartilage in Xenopus

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
The XenCart Protocol provides a reproducible way to visualize and quantify how the developing craniofacial skeleton responds to experimental perturbation. Embryos are exposed to defined conditions, craniofacial cartilage is stained with Alcian blue, imaged, and analyzed morphometrically.

Trigeminal and facial branchiomotor neurons have shared muscle targets in zebrafish larvae

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Cranial nerve innervation map, based on previous studies, shows the trigeminal and facial motor nerves confined to the mandibular and hyoid arch muscles, respectively, except for the trigeminal nerve in the interhyoideus muscle (M.IH). The revised cranial nerve innervation map, based on this study, shows the facial nerve in the intermandibularis ...

Early Maintenance and Change of Planned Removable Prosthodontic Treatment Pathways in Patients With Functional Limitations: The Role of Impression Feasibility and Caregiver Support

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
In adults with functional limitations undergoing planned removable prosthodontic treatment, early pathway change (conversion to implant‐based rehabilitation or treatment abandonment) occurred in 22.4% of patients, most within 12 weeks. Impression feasibility under routine outpatient conditions and high caregiver support were independently associated ...

Eccentric Occlusal Loads Remodel the Dentoalveolar and Temporomandibular Biomechanical Unit in Rats

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
Eccentric occlusal loads remodel the dentoalveolar and temporomandibular joints in the masticatory biomechanical unit in rats. (A) Bite block as an occlusal rise (OR) on the rat maxillary first molar (green region) is shown. (B) 18F‐NaF Positron emission tomography localised regions of higher metabolic activity (higher uptake in the left condyle ...
