Unexpected events during mandibular distraction osteogenesis
Scandinavian Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Hand Surgery, 2004Various unexpected events during mandibular distraction osteogenesis are described in 16 syndromic children with severely retrognathic or asymmetric lower jaws who were treated with unilateral or bilateral extraoral distraction. The mean total time with the distraction devices attached was 14 weeks (range 10-19).

Mandibular widening by intraoral distraction osteogenesis
British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1997Transverse mandibular deficiency with crowding of the mandibular anterior teeth is frequently present in patients with Class I and II malocclusions. The hallmarks of treatment by compensating orthodontics, functional appliances or orthopaedic devices are instability, compromised periodontium and compromised facial aesthetics.

Endoscopically assisted intraoral mandibular distraction osteogenesis
International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2001Correct placement of intraoral devices for mandibular distraction osteogenesis is important to achieve the ideal vector of distraction. As visual inspection and intraoperative management in the inferior mandibular border or at the posterior ascending ramus is impaired, an endoscopically assisted method is presented.

MANDIBULAR RECONSTRUCTION USING DISTRACTION OSTEOGENESIS

Dental complications of the mandibular distraction osteogenesis
Stomatologiya, 2020Was to reveal the prevalence of dental abnormalities in children after mandibular distraction osteogenesis (MDO).The study comprised 75 children aged 5-16 years (42 boys and 33 girls, mean age 9.8±4.2 years) who underwent MDO because of mandible underdevelopment associated with hemifacial microsomia (n=42), Robin syndrome (n=6), Treacher Collins ...

Mandibular midline distraction osteogenesis.
Oral health and dental management, 2014In orthodontics, bone structure, its density and dimensions play an essential role by explaining limitations in magnitude, size and extent of tooth movement. Severe anterior crowding is one of the most frequently encountered dental malocclusions. Its therapy is mostly limited by lack of basal and alveolar bone and it often involves tooth extractions ...

Proximal Segment Displacement in Mandibular Distraction Osteogenesis
Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2002Distraction osteogenesis has been advocated for treatment of the mandibular deformity in patients with hemifacial microsomia (HFM). During the active phase, the force of distraction pushes the distal segment of the mandible down, creating a distraction gap.

Mandibular distraction osteogenesis for treatment of extreme mandibular hypoplasia
American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 2007Distraction osteogenesis is an important option for the treatment of mandibular hypoplasia. This case report describes the treatment of a girl with mandibular hypoplasia and sleep apnea. She had a tracheostomy, followed by orthodontic treatment, including extraoral mandibular distraction osteogenesis to open the airway.

Advancement of mandibular symphysis with distraction osteogenesis
American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 2009This case report demonstrates the effects of mandibular symphysis advancement with distraction osteogenesis (DO) in a 21-year-old man with a Class I molar relationship, protrusive maxillary incisors, crowding in both arches, and increased overjet and overbite.

Effects of Simvastatin on Mandibular Distraction Osteogenesis
Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2008The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of local and systemic simvastatin application on distraction osteogenesis.Eighteen New Zealand white rabbits underwent unilateral mandibular distraction osteogenesis. After 7 days of neutral fixation, 0.4 mm twice per day, distraction was performed for 10 days. Simvastatin was applied locally during the
