Tooth Wear Severity and Temporomandibular Joint Degenerative Findings on Cone‐Beam Computed Tomography: A Cross‐Sectional Study in Adults

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
In 80 adults with TMD symptoms (160 joints), tooth wear was scored clinically and TMJ degeneration was assessed on CBCT. Adjusted analyses showed no association with osteophytes, erosion, subchondral cysts, or definite osteoarthritis, indicating that tooth wear alone does not predict TMJ degeneration.

The Effect of Different Mandibular Advancement Devices on Sleep Parameters in Obstructive Sleep Apnea

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
Obstructive sleep apnea arises from repeated upper airway collapse during sleep, causing apnea events. Mandibular advancement devices (MADs) treat this by advancing the mandible to open the airway. Three device types—conventionally manufactured (Mundgleiter) and CAD/CAM‐manufactured (OPTISLEEP, Narval CC)—were compared, with an average mandibular ...

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy for Feeding and Swallowing in Children From Four to 12 Years: What Does the Evidence Show? A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
This systematic review evaluated the effectiveness of orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT) for improving feeding and swallowing outcomes in children aged 4–12 years. Searches of four databases identified 17 studies, all reporting positive feeding and/or swallowing outcomes, including improved eating and swallowing skills, orofacial muscle function and

Evaluation of Bite Force Measurements Using Sensor‐Based Systems: A Feasibility Study

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
This feasibility study compared bite force measurements obtained with Innobyte, a miniature bite force sensor and T‐scan in 23 participants. Innobyte and miniature bite force sensor measurements showed a strong correlation. However, the three devices provided complimentary information and should not be considered interchangeable.
