Modeling chronic periodontitis in rats: Persistent alveolar bone loss mediated by periodontal pathogens

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Irrigation of periodontal pockets with human periopathogens, in combination with a 14‐day ligature‐induced periodontitis protocol, significantly enhances alveolar bone loss and sustains bacterial colonization for up to 28 days following ligature removal, thereby more closely replicating the chronic nature of human periodontitis compared to the ligature

Evidence of strong stabilizing effects on the evolution of boreoeutherian (Mammalia) dental proportions. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The dentition is an extremely important organ in mammals with variation in timing and sequence of eruption, crown morphology, and tooth size enabling a range of behavioral, dietary, and functional adaptations across the class.

Periodontal Healing Distally to Second Mandibular Molar After Third Molar Coronectomy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2017
Coronectomy of mandibular third molars is a procedure that still raises a number of questions. The aim of the present study was to answer one unsolved question: the periodontal healing distal to the mandibular second molar after third molar coronectomy.A prospective cohort study was performed of 30 patients treated at the Unit of Oral and Maxillofacial

Finite element analysis of feeding in red and gray squirrels (Sciurus vulgaris and Sciurus carolinensis)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Invasive gray squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis) have replaced the native red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) across much of Great Britain over the last century. Several factors have been proposed to underlie this replacement, but here we investigated the potential for dietary competition in which gray squirrels have better feeding performance than ...

Uprighting Mandibular Third Molar Using NiTi Wire [PDF]

open access: yesDental Journal of Advance Studies
If impacted teeth can be brought into occlusion, they should be brought into occlusion, especially in young patients. When the second molar is missing, saving the third molar becomes all the more important.

Mandible composition and properties in two selected praying mantises (Insecta, Mantodea)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Insects process their food with their cuticle‐based mouthparts. These feeding structures reflect their diversity and can, in some cases, showcase adaptations in material composition, mechanical properties, and shape to suit their specific dietary preferences.

Tooth Movement Following Third Molar Removal

open access: yesAustralasian Orthodontic Journal, 1994
The mandibular dental arches of 45 young adults (mean age = 24.3 years) were analyzed by measuring study casts taken immediately before and twelve weeks after the removal of impacted third molar teeth. Arch length and width were measured at predetermined

Treatment of mandibular second molar impaction in a patient with metal hypersensitivity

open access: yesAustralasian Orthodontic Journal, 2021
It is widely accepted that the prevalence of metal hypersensitivity is increasing. Furthermore, the incidence of unerupted mandibular second molars is 2.3%, of which 0.2% is judged to be a result of impaction.
