Institutional amnesia pushes fish spawning aggregations towards extirpation

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 5, Issue 2, Page 489-495, April 2023., 2023
Abstract How institutions create and manage knowledge has been explored in the context of management and business science. However, little effort has been made to understand how, and why, these institutions forget what works or does not work, and no research in this field has been conducted in conservation or fisheries science.

Vegetation effects on soil pore structure and hydraulic properties in volcanic ash soils of the high Andes

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 36, Issue 9, September 2022., 2022
In volcanic ash soils of the high Andes, vegetation has a significant effect on soil hydraulic properties in the A horizon. Water retention, total available water, and saturated hydraulic conductivity are higher under cushion‐forming plants than under tussock grasses due to differences in soil pore structure.

Protected area characteristics that help waterbirds respond to climate warming

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 36, Issue 4, August 2022., 2022
Abstract Protected area networks help species respond to climate warming. However, the contribution of a site's environmental and conservation‐relevant characteristics to these responses is not well understood. We investigated how composition of nonbreeding waterbird communities (97 species) in the European Union Natura 2000 (N2K) network (3018 sites ...
